Although many businesses are still struggling to become compliant with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) – a ballot initiative that goes into effect on January 1, 2023 – has additional requirements that businesses will need to understand and comply with. Notably, some of the CPRA’s provisions apply to personal information collected as of January 1, 2022, so it is essential that businesses covered by the statute become familiar with new requirements and restrictions on their collection, use, and disclosure of personal information now.
