    David Gold, Miles Imwalle, and Megan Jennings join Coblentz’s Real Estate and Land Use Practice

Gold, Miles H. Imwalle, and Megan A. Jennings have joined its partnership. The group joins Coblentz’s Real Estate and Land Use practice.

    The former Morrison & Foerster partners bring to the Coblentz firm their deep experience in the land use and CEQA side of the real estate practice, including commercial, mixed-use, medical center, renewable energy and residential development projects and have worked together on many of California’s highest profile projects. A few of the recent projects they have advised on include Apple’s new, approximately 3.4 million-square-foot campus in Cupertino; numerous utility-scale photovoltaic solar facilities for First Solar, EDF Renewables, Con Edison Development, and E.ON Renewables; the redevelopment of the 50 acre Vallco Mall in Cupertino, which is proposed to include a 30 acre publicly accessible green roof; the Kaiser Permanente Sacramento Railyards and Dublin medical centers; the public-private redevelopment of the 80-acre Oyster Point Marina area in South San Francisco; the San Ramon City Center for Sunset Development; and redevelopment of the Public Market in Emeryville.

    David A. Gold has dedicated his land use, CEQA and development practice to assisting a wide range of institutional, technology, healthcare, development, public and renewable energy clients before government agencies and commissions throughout Northern California for more than 37 years. He has been recognized by Legal 500 USA, Best Lawyers in America, and Super Lawyers, and holds an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell. In 2011, the Daily Journal recognized Mr. Gold as one of the top 25 land-use attorneys in California. He received his J.D. from the University of Southern California and his B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley.

    Miles H. Imwalle advises clients on the development of commercial, residential, mixed-use and renewable energy projects throughout California, and in the land use aspects of financing real estate acquisitions and developments, including zoning, land use, permitting and environmental matters. Mr. Imwalle has been recognized by Legal 500 USA and Super Lawyers. In 2012, The Recorder named Miles among its 50 “Fast Track” lawyers. He received his J.D. from New York University School of Law and his B.A. from Dartmouth College.

    Megan A. Jennings focuses her practice on land use and environmental permitting, transactional matters, and compliance. Ms. Jennings counsels project developers throughout the CEQA review and land use entitlement process. She has particular experience advising on complex development issues for renewable energy projects, hospitals, corporate campuses, and multifamily/mixed-use facilities. She received her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law and her B.A. from the University of Montana.

  • Justice & Diversity Center Honors Coblentz Attorneys as Outstanding Volunteers in Public Service

    Coblentz attorneys Duff Beach, Jeff Bernstein, Misti Schmidt, Howard Slavitt, Joy Spezeski, and Katharine Van Dusen were honored by the Justice & Diversity Center of The Bar Association of San Francisco (JDC) as 2017 Outstanding Volunteers. Each year at the annual volunteer appreciation celebration, JDC recognizes and thanks the top 15 percent of people who have made extraordinary contributions to the organization, including JDC’s Pro Bono Legal Services Program, Homeless Advocacy Project, Immigrant Legal Defense Program, and Diversity Educational Programs. Last year, over 2,000 volunteers assisted more than 9,000 low-income clients through legal representation, and related social services, in nearly every area of civil law.  Volunteers also provided over 700 students with counseling, coaching and mentoring in efforts to increase diversity in the legal profession.

    “JDC is thrilled to recognize all our guests who partnered with us to provide access to justice, and to a more diverse legal profession. We’re also deeply grateful and honored to have the Courts join us in expressing gratitude for public service”, said Gloria Chun, Director and Managing Attorney of JDC’s Pro Bono Legal Services Program.

  • Sara Finigan Joins Danna Kozerski as Coblentz Co-Managing Partner

    Coblentz is pleased to announce that Sara Finigan has joined Danna Kozerski in serving as the firm’s Co-Managing Partners. Sara practices in the firm’s Corporate group and specializes in serving clients in the negotiation and funding of joint ventures for the development of real property. She also helps both corporate and individual clients develop and implement strategies to navigate complex business matters. She was previously chair of the firm’s Corporate practice group and was named a Top 100 Lawyer in California. In the community, Sara serves on the Board of Directors of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area.

    For over a decade, Danna has been working alongside Alan Gennis and Jeff Knowles as the firm’s three Co-Managing Partners.     Fredrick C. Crombie, Litigation.
    Fred Crombie is an experienced litigator in state and federal courts at both the trial and appellate levels. Fred’s practice focuses on complex civil litigation with an emphasis on financial disputes, tax controversy, complex commercial litigation, and trusts and estates litigation. Before he joined the firm, Fred was a Trial Attorney in the Tax Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, where he litigated a variety of tax controversies involving wealthy individuals, consolidated filing groups, insolvent financial institutions, telecommunications carriers and resellers, payroll processing companies, foreign service corporations, and nonresident aliens. Fred earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School in 2002. While there, he was an Associate Editor of the University of Michigan Journal For Law Reform.  Fred received his B.A. in political science from the George Washington University in 1999.

    Paul C. Levin, Real Estate.
    Paul Levin’s broad real estate transaction expertise includes purchase and sale, construction and design, leasing, and land use entitlements. Paul represents owners, developers, and users on a range of development projects, with a particular strength in handling all facets of a project from inception to completion. Prior to joining the firm, Paul worked for Edgemoor Real Estate Services, a division of the Clark Construction Group, focusing on real estate development and public-private partnerships, and at a large international law firm. Paul earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2009, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Virginia Environmental Law Journal. He graduated cum laude from Yale University in 2005, where he earned his B.A. in political science with an interdisciplinary focus on urban development.

    Peter Wang, Business.
    Peter Wang is a business attorney with a broad range of experience counseling clients through all lifecycles of a business and across different industries. For his company clients, Peter counsels them from formation, through growth stage financings, and eventually, sales and other exits. M&A comprises a significant part of Peter’s practice, on both the buy-side and sell-side, in strategic and financial transactions, and in distressed scenarios. Peter also serves as outside general counsel to his company clients, helping them structure, negotiate and execute various commercial contracts, as well as joint venture arrangements, partnerships and strategic alliances. Additionally, Peter is well-versed in guiding individual, family office and private equity clients through their investment opportunities. Many of Peter’s clients operate in the advertising, consulting, marketing and design industries, giving him unique insight into market trends and practices. Peter earned his J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law in 2010, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the UCLA Journal of International Law and Foreign Affairs. He graduated from the University of California, Davis in 2004, where he earned B.A. degrees in Political Science and Classics.
